  • How Would Holly Holm Do Against Ronda Rousey?

Holly Holm is arguably the greatest female boxer in the world. Women’s boxing has a very small audience, but in that niche Holly Holm has firmly placed herself as the number one female boxer in the United States. At thirty years of age, she has announced that she is leaving boxing to compete in MMA.

The immediate question is how would Holly Holm do against Ronda Rousey? Holly Holm, like Rousey, is a true athlete who thrives in competition. Cat Zingano, the woman slated to face Rousey next, is a mother of two and a BJJ instructor. Comparatively, Holly’s credentials put Zingano’s to shame. Undoubtedly, Holly has superior striking skills to any female MMA competitor. However, the big question is her ground game and her submissions, which are vitally important if she ever wants to dethrone Ronda Rousey.

However, Ronda has never really faced an opponent with the top-level striking skills that Holly Holm has. It would be a classic grappler vs striker matchup. They are also both blonde, attractive, and American, which means it’s a very marketable fight for the UFC audience.

As of right now, Rousey would probably easily win via armbar, but Holm has showed after rematching Anne Sophie-Mathis, how determined and capable she is against adversity. In a couple years, this could be a competitive and lucrative matchup.

  • Who Is Cat Zingano?

Cat Zingano will be facing Miesha Tate to determine the number one contender to Ronda Rousey. Realistically, neither of these women pose a threat to Rousey at the moment. Although Miesha Tate is a very tough and talented fighter, she has shown that she has no answer to Rousey’s armbar. But Tate has had legit competition in the past, and a stellar win over Marloes Coenen.

Cat Zingano is a Colorado-based WMMA fighter. She is married to a BJJ instructor and has won the past seven of her fights with no losses. Her fights have been against lower-level competition, and I think she’s in for a rude awakening when she faces Miesha Tate. I predict Tate winning with her grappling and ring experience, and re-matching with Rousey.

I think the re-match will actually be fun. Miesha Tate has a fiery personality, and her and Rousey will have some fun pre-fight promotion.

  • Ronda Rousey Armbars Liz Carmouche In The First Round

Well Ronda Rousey did what she was supposed to do, and arm-barred Liz Carmouche in the first round. When Dana White looks at Rousey, I’m sure he sees dollar signs flashing before his eyes. Rousey is garnering unprecedented mainstream attention for MMA and I’m sure White is loving every minute of it. I’m sure within the next couple months we’ll find out who her next hapless victim will be, maybe a gal from Japan.

  • Ronda Rousey Staredown With Liz Carmouche

Ronda Rousey facing off against Liz Carmouche is the last staredown in the video. It’s interesting to note that Dana White gives Rousey the belt like she’s already won, which she doesn’t want. This looks to be a great card, with Dan Henderson vs Lyota Machida and Josh Koscheck vs Robbie Lawler!

  • Is Ronda Rousey The Biggest Star In MMA?

Georges St Pierre has been MIA for what seems like a long time now. Anderson Silva is highly respected, but can’t speak english well. All the other top UFC stars, like Jon Jones or Cain Velasquez, don’t seem to command the amount of media attention that Rousey does. In time, she may become the biggest female star in any sport. She’s pretty close already. The media’s darling, she has a penchant for saying outrageous things in interviews, as well as talking about her sex life. She’s also a truly talented athlete, and has Dana White enamored with her. So, unless she gets busted for steroids or loses via KO, Rousey has many more years ahead of her in MMA.

  • Liz Carmouche Is The UFC’s Sacrificial Lamb Against Ronda Rousey

When MMA newcomer Liz Carmouche faces Ronda Rousey, she is basically a poodle being put against a pitbull. Rousey is on a vicious winning streak, and what she can do to other women’s limbs is truly frightening. Liz Carmouche is a game and talented fighter, but she’s a complete newbie, and is just being used as a stepping stone for Ronda Rousey. UFC is obviously hoping to capitalize on Rousey’s star-power, and they want to bring her a long slowly.

  • Liz Carmouche Is The First Openly Gay Fighter In The UFC, Will Face Ronda Rousey

Congratulations to Liz Carmouche for being the first openly gay fighter to compete in the UFC. Coming from a military background, Carmouche has quickly risen in the world of female MMA. She has been tapped by Dana White to be a competitor in the first women’s match in the UFC, talk about pressure!

Carmouche has already suffered losses to Marloes Coenen and Sarah Kaufman, the Kaufman Rousey just quickly submitted in her last title defense in Strikeforce. Carmouche will most likely lose via armbar to Rousey, BUT if the two fighters are able to put on an entertaining match, it would be a great step forward for women’s MMA.

  • Ronda Rousey First Female To Headline UFC Event

A big congratulations goes out to Ronda Rousey, who will be the first female to headline a UFC event. After the demise of Strikeforce, Rousey’s talent and star-power was enough to convince Dana White that females belong in the UFC. There is now a tremendous amount of pressure put on Rousey’s shoulders, since she is basically carrying the MMA women’s division at the moment. Despite Rousey’s popularity, it still remains to be seen if the female division is deep enough for long-term success. But with the lack to star-power the UFC currently has, they can use all the help they can get.

  • Gina Carano VS Ronda Rousey, Who Would’ve Won?

At one time, Gina Carano was considered the premier female fighter in MMA. She had put on admirable performances against various opponents, and had proven that she had legitimate striking skills.

She is a vastly different fighter than Ronda Rousey, who realistically has no striking skills, but is a nightmare on the ground. It would’ve been an intriguing matchup between two different styles. However, in my mind, there is no doubt that Ronda Rousey would win and win easily via armbar.

Carano would get some strikes in, before getting taken down by Rousey’s judo caliber takedowns. Ronda would then promptly submit Gina Carano within the first minute of the match. Carano was never known for her ground skills, and she would’ve been easy prey for Rousey, even if she’s naturally the bigger woman.

Still, it’s a shame that Gina Carano is no longer involved. She had a certain star quality that made women’s MMA relevant and exciting. For some reason, women’s MMA seems to only allow one featured star at a time, and currently the featured star is Ronda Rousey.

  • Video of Ronda Rousey VS Sarah Kaufman

Ronda Rousey proved how untouchable she is in her victory over respected MMA veteran Sarah Kaufman.

The media is labeling her the most popular female athlete in the United States, and I can’t say they’re wrong.
