  • Red-Headed Mexican Canelo May Face Austin Trout In May

Despite all the rumors going around that red-headed Mexican Canelo Alvarez may face Floyd Mayweather it appears that Canelo may actually face Austin Trout in May. This is actually an exciting fight between two young up-and-coming boxers. Austin Trout recently defeated Miguel Cotto and has started to make a name for himself.

Floyd Mayweather is rumored to face Robert Guerrero. Although these aren’t the mega-fights fans were hoping for, both matches are intriguing and have the potential to be exciting. They would also prepare the groundwork for the next generation of superstar boxers.

  • Canelo Alvarez vs Victor Ortiz Announced For September 15th

In another big-money match-up, red-headed Mexican Canelo Alvarez vs Victor Ortiz has been announced for September 15th. Both of these men have had problems finding opponents recently. Alvarez had two fights fall through, one with Paul Williams and then recently with James Kirkland. Victor Ortiz was scheduled to face Andre Berto twice, and both of those fights fell through also.

In the end, despite all the previous disappointment, this looks to be a really good fight. I’m picking the undefeated Canelo Alvarez to win, but as the cliche goes, this will be his biggest test. Victor Ortiz, although not without his flaws, is a young hungry fighter. He has some good wins, but never seems to win the champion fights.

Personally, I’m much more excited about the Sergio Martinez-Julio Cesar Chavez Jr fight, but I’m still glad that boxing has some fights I actually want to see. Both boxing and MMA have been kind of boring lately…. I think both sports are in desperate need of some new stars.

  • Canelo Alvarez Strikes a Funny Pose

Red-Headed Mexican, Canelo Alvarez was trying to show that he is in great shape by striking this pose for his fight with Shane Mosley.

But, instead, this pose looks like he’s trying out to be a member of the Chippendales! The self-satisfied smile he has on his face is also amusing. Canelo vs Mosley is an intriguing match-up. I’m looking forward to seeing that fight!

  • Oscar De La Hoya Wants Red-Headed Mexican Canelo Alvarez to Knockout Shane Mosley

In a very interesting fight, the surging Canelo Alvarez will face off against Shane Mosley on the Mayweather-Cotto undercard. Alvarez last knocked out a faded Kermit Cintron. While Cintron has looked bad in his last couple fights, he was once a guy who had power and some good wins. Canelo won impressively and he’s facing off another veteran, Shane Mosley. While Mosley has obviously seen much better days, he’s a wily veteran who’s very hard to hurt. The last time I saw Mosley hurt was against under-rated Vernon Forrest.

On a side-note, Canelo looks like he should be on “Little House on the Prairie” with that shirt! I’m rooting for Canelo to knock-out Mosley. While I think Mosley is a very nice guy, I think his style of fighting now is very boring, and he should retire sooner rather than later. He was once a great champion, and there’s no reason to tarnish his legacy. If Canelo is able to knock Mosley out, then he moves on to another level of stardom.
