  • Froch-Kessler Official For May

The super-fights just keep on coming for Carl Froch. The Brit is finally getting the rematch that he has been wanting for so long against Mikkel Kessler in May. The fight will be on British soil and is destined to do huge box-office, and be a potential fight of the year candidate. If Froch manages to win, he may become the best super-middleweight (not named Andre Ward) in the world. This fight will be the hardest match Kessler will have since the Super Six Tournament.

  • Carl Froch-Mikkel Kessler II Almost Official

Carl Froch is riding high, and seems like a man on a mission to avenge his losses. While he may never face SOG Andre Ward, he is reportedly very close to fighting Danish boxer Mikkel Kessler. Kessler has been on a winning streak since dropping out of the Super Six tournament, his most notable one being against Allan Green.

Fighting Carl Froch will be a definite test for Kessler, and I don’t mean skill-wise. While Froch has faced his adversity head-on and achieved his biggest triumph by dismantling the highly celebrated Lucian Bute, Kessler has faced a series of lower-level fighters and appears to be wanting to take it easy.

While this fight will draw a huge box-office and be good for boxing, I predict Carl Froch winning via unanimous decision.

  • Lucian Bute’s Career Is Over After His Loss To Carl Froch

Lucian Bute could NOT have looked worse after his knockout loss to Carl Froch. This was a fight that I had greatly been looking forward to seeing. I was one of the few people who chose Froch to win, although by decision. I was constantly amazed at how many people wrote Froch off against Bute. Froch lost against Andre Ward, but there is a different between getting out-boxed and then just annihilated like Bute was against Froch.

Seriously, though, Bute’s best win was against Edison Miranda, the perennial punching-bag of the world’s top super-middleweights. While Froch has proved to be one of the most durable fighters perhaps ever, facing absolutely top-notch opposition for the last couple years.

Unfortunately for Lucian Bute, he has lost that sheen of pound-for-pound greatness that gave him his superstar luster. People were really thinking that he was top five best in the world, undefeated, a vicious body-puncher. But he was knocked out by a guy who hadn’t knocked anyone out in years. The fight proved that people’s lingering suspicions of Bute’s chin were correct.

Bute’s career will never be the same, and I don’t ever see him fighting Carl Froch again. I predict he will face some lesser competition, and then announce his retirement.

  • Lucian Bute and Carl Froch Face to Face for Mega-Fight, Will Be Held at Nottingham Capital FM Arena

The overwhelming opinion of boxing fans is that Lucian Bute will STOP Carl Froch. I’m a little surprised by how many fans think that Bute can stop Froch, considering Froch has the best chin in boxing, has never even been rocked, despite being a contestant in the human gauntlet called the Super Six Tournament.

I think Bute’s best weapon is his hellacious body punching, that he used to knock out Edison Miranda. But Froch is no Edison Miranda, and while he’s a bit battle-worn, Froch is still one of the toughest men in boxing. On the other hand, Lucian Bute has been knocked out before. I don’t care what anyone says – Librado Andrade is the only man to ever have knocked out Bute, and Bute should have a loss on his record. The fact that he doesn’t is a travesty of justice. So, in fact, I think Carl Froch has a better chance of knocking out Bute than vice-versa. If Glen Johnson can survive Bute then so can Froch.

There are a lot of X-factors involving Bute that make this match very intriguing, such as Bute fighting in enemy territory for the first time. This major major step up in competition for Bute. I think people are underestimating just how much of a step up this fight will be for Bute. He has an old Glen Johnson and Edison Miranda on his resume, hardly the resume of legends. Carl Froch is on another level than anyone else Bute has fought.

I choose Carl Froch to win via majority decision.

  • The Incredible Demand for Lucian Bute vs Carl Froch Prompts Search for New Venue For May Fight

Despite, unbelievably, Showtime and HBO, not wanting to broadcast this fight, thankfully the promoters have found a way to make this happen. Lucian Bute will travel to Carl Froch’s hometown of Nottingham to face Froch in May. The fans, however, have shown how much they want to see this fight. From the internet message-boards, to the fans going out in droves to buy tickets, I’m still dumbfounded how HBO and Showtime could turn down this fight.

Due to the massive demand, Eddie Hearn, Froch’s promoter is looking for another venue because he wants all the fans to be able to see this fight. I’m glad the fans are speaking out on what type of fights we really want to see. This is a fight true boxing fans want to see!

What the unspoken question this fight will answer, is whether Lucian Bute is the real-deal or not. This is what makes the fight so intriguing. Lucian Bute is a hellacious body puncher and as Carl Froch would say, “genetically gifted,” but he was soooooo lucky to get by Librado Andrade. And Carl Froch is the perfect guy to be a truth-bearer when it comes to Bute’s chin and heart.

This is a huge risk for Lucian Bute, and the reason he’s doing this is for pursuit of a match with Andre Ward, the undisputed best middleweight in the world. If Bute is able to beat Froch and then Andre Ward, he would ascend to the pound-for-pound rankings list!

The fight will be broadcast on EPIX, and I’m planning on purchasing this fight no matter what. I WANT to see it!

  • Carl Froch Discusses His May Fight with Lucian Bute in Nottingham

The fight HAS been officially announced on the 26th for Nottingham. This is a new and exciting fight, because it will really show if Lucian Bute is truly an elite super-middleweight. Bute will have to win and win convincingly to get the decision in Nottingham. Carl Froch will be the biggest test of Bute’s career by far, who let’s face it, has a padded record. Froch is a true warrior who has fought the toughest schedule of any boxer in recent memory. He has an iron chin, and Bute will have to bring his A-game to defeat Froch. I can’t wait for this fight!

Carl Froch also mentions that he thinks Amir Khan lost to Lamont Peterson, and that Amir should stop his whining, lol.

  • Lucian Bute will Fight Carl Froch in Nottingham on May 12

In a very exciting bout for boxing fans, particularly ones who followed the Super Six Tournament, Lucian Bute will face Carl Froch on May 12th. And, get this, it will be in Nottingham instead of Bute’s native Quebec. Good for Carl Froch to get the fight in his hometown, after having fought so many fights away. Bute’s schedule has been positively soft compared to the drama the Super Six Contestants have gone through. I think Lucian Bute has the edge, because Carl Froch looked bad in his last fight against Andre Ward, and Lucian Bute is a hellacious body puncher. But if Bute wins, then I think he’s definitely earned his shot at Andre Ward.

I can’t wait to see this fight!

  • Carl Froch Has the Best Chin for Boxing

Carl “Cobra” Froch, from the UK, is best-known for two things: having an iron chin and a gorgeous girlfriend.

I would even go so far to say as he has THE best chin in boxing. I think Vitali Klitschko comes in a close second. I’ve watched him closely during the Super Six, taking bombs from an extremely aggressive Glen Johnson, dominating the hard-hitting Arthur Abraham, struggling with the slicksters Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward. But never once have I ever seen him truly hurt. This, to me, is amazing. He was knocked down once by Jermain Taylor, but wasn’t rocked, and came back later to win that fight by knockout.

I can’t think of a single other fighter who has never been rocked in any of their fights, except for Vitali. Add to that, the high-level of competition Froch has faced, and it makes this feat even more impressive.

I’m not even a fan of Froch. I don’t like his fighting style, and I find him and his shrieking girlfriend Rachel Cordingley annoying and cocky. But, realistically, he is a tough tough guy, and that should be commended.

  • Lucian Bute vs Carl Froch Back on for April 14th!!!!

Good news for Lucian Bute fans. It looks like everyone’s favorite Romanian-Canadian fighter will be facing some real competition. In a previous post I had detailed how the potential fight between Bute and Carl Froch had stalled out, but it was just reported by boxingscene.com that the deal has almost been finalized for Carl Froch to fight Lucian Bute on April 14th!

But of course, Froch will have to travel to Bute’s hometown of Montreal to get the first fight. So let met bite my tongue here… while Froch has no bargaining power coming off a loss, and most likely looking for the biggest fights possible before retiring, I think it’s a shame that the first fight is in Montreal.

I’m not a fan of Carl Froch, but the guy just underwent two punishing years as a member of the Super-Six Tournament. He should be given some respect for that. If he hadn’t been able to persevere, Andre Ward might’ve won the title by default, with the fighters falling like flies out of the tournament.

Froch will have to stop Bute to win, because I don’t think he’ll get a decision. However, I think it will be an entertaining fight, and one I definitely want to see. Bute will really be tested, because he will have to go all twelve rounds. There is also a potential for a second fight in Nottingham, England if the first fight is well-received. Keep your fingers crossed that this fight actually happens.

Showtime rejected the fight, because they wanted Bute to fight an American, which I think is silly. So I hope this fight happens without Showtime.

  • Carl Froch Will Not Meet Lucian Bute for Mega Fight

The deal between the two fighters was rejected by Showtime. Even so, how would these two do against each other?

Bute is very popular in his native Montreal

Lucian looked very impressive in his last couple fights. He is an extremely strong and large super middleweight. While greatly criticized for not being a part of the Super Six Tournament, I think Bute would’ve been in the finals if he had entered. He does lack marquee names on his resume, though, and fighting Carl Froch would be a definite step up for the Romanian-Canadian.

Since Andre Ward has made it very clear that he feels Bute hasn’t earned a fight with him yet, Froch would’ve made a legitimate opponent. I personally think it would be a great, competitive fight, although I would give the edge to Bute.

Froch, to his credit, has had a punishing schedule for the past two years, and that must’ve taken a toll on him. While Froch has the best chin in boxing, Bute seems fresher and would most likely win via majority decision. Also, Andre Ward exposed Froch somewhat in their match, making Froch look clumsy and ineffective.

While I’m not a personal fan of Froch, I do see him giving Bute his hardest fight since Librado Andrade almost KO’ed Bute in their first match. Carl Froch seems to have the most problem with slick fighters who have speed like Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward. I don’t think he would have issues getting off like he did against the two Americans.

I, for one, hope this fight happens at some point. It’s about time Lucian Bute start fighting some “real” competition. He has definitely been sheltered.
