Badr Hari fans are still in shock to his humiliating defeat against lowly Zabit Samedov. While the initial shock has worn off, fans are now questioning if Badr Hari threw the fight. While, initially, experts dismissed the claims as nothing more than gossip, signs point to Badr throwing the fight for financial returns.
After the fight he was spotted partying with his girlfriend Estelle Gullit, not acting at all like a man who has just fought a terrible fight. Something has changed about Badr Hari. While I’ve never been a fan, now I’m even less of a one. He appears to have sold his soul to the devil.
Is this the end of the era of the golden boy? Has hanging out with Estelle Gullit too much made the former bad boy just another sellout?
Badr Hari just lost a fight that he never should’ve lost against the much smaller Zabit Samedov. And he lost in disastrous fashion, getting knocked down in the first round and getting KO’ed in the second. At this point, it appears that Badr Hari would lose badly to all the top kickboxers in the world… and lose badly.
Well it looks like Badr Hari is making a return to the ring much sooner than anyone expected. He has recently done media for his upcoming fight this Friday against Zabit Samedov, where he confirms that he is legally allowed to fight in Croatia. Badr admits that he is not in the best of shape, but believes that he is ready to return (translation: Zabit Samedov is easy prey). Video is below.
In surprising (but very good) news for Badr Hari fans, K1 has announced that Badr Hari will replace Ben Edwards in the K1 World Grand Prix. I didn’t realize that this was a legal possibility for Badr Hari, since he hasn’t even gone to trial yet.
With the K1 World Grand Prix being the weakest its been in a very long time, maybe ever, Badr Hari has a very good chance of finally realizing his dream of being a K1 champion. Now that Daniel Ghita has mysteriously decided to compete in GLORY instead of K1, Hesdy Gerges seems the only real competition for Hari left.
Badr Hari has started out 2013 on a positive note. Skinny and shamed, Badr Hari has resumed training with Gokhan Saki at Mike’s Gym. Reportedly, he has also contacted Glory about fighting there, and I’m sure they’re very happy to hear from him.
Unfortunately, Badr Hari is a VERY shady character to me, and I don’t expect him to stay out of trouble. From having Chantal Oornink – a former drug moll – as a long-time girlfriend, plus his longtime gang associations, Badr Hari is bad news.
Badr Hari is shown being released from prison. He is shown with his controversial girlfriend Estelle Gullit. No sign of his ex-girlfriend, Daphne Romani, anywhere… or his baby daughter.
Badr Hari can’t seem to keep himself out of trouble. I’ve lost track of how many time he has been in and out of prison recently. However, he is reportedly set to be released tomorrow. From there, he will await trial for his charges. It sounds like he will definitely serve some jail time, but whether it will be enough to completely derail his career remains to be seen.
Going by looks alone, it’s hard to believe that Badr Hari impregnated and then left working Dutch model Daphne Romani for Estelle Gullit. I’m sure she’ll be fine in the long-run, and considering the state Badr Hari is in now, maybe even fortunate. Badr Hari strikes me as the type of person who would be a negative force in any woman’s life.
Jamal Ben Saddik made his presence felt during the recent Glory event, that Semmy Schilt decisively won. However, a little-known Moroccan kickboxer named Jamal Ben Saddik gave notice that he has arrived, with startling wins over Errol Zimmerman AND Remy Bonjasky.
At first glance, Saddik appears like a weak facsimile of Badr Hari. A super-heavyweight, after Semmy Schilt, he is the second tallest heavyweight in the tourney. But, unfortunately, he possesses quite the beer gut, which shook magnificently when getting kicked in the tummy by Daniel Ghita. He lacks the athleticism and natural talent that Badr Hari had, but he appears to make up with it by using somewhat sloppy aggression and size. His size and aggression cannot be ignored, however, and he appeared to dumbfound both Errol Zimmerman and Remy Bonjasky with it. He also is entertaining, whether he’s running around the ring in an attacking frenzy or collapsing from getting kicked in the stomach.
While Jamal Ben Saddik may not exactly be the new Badr Hari, I do believe that at only twenty-two years of age, he’s definitely a heavyweight to watch. If he could just shed some pounds and refine his technique, he could be a force in kickboxing. He has already defeated two major names in Zimmerman and Bonjasky.
Below is the video of the full fight between Daniel Ghita and Saddik. I found it quite entertaining!
Badr Hari emerged as the heir apparent to such kickboxing legends as Ernesto Hoost and Peter Aerts. He had the raw talent and aggression, if not the chin or the mental toughness. He also had that X-Factor, the ability to create a fiercely loyal and devoted international fanbase, who loved watching him fight.
Although I’m not the biggest fan of his, even I was excited when I heard that he would be switching to boxing, although not optimistic about his chances.
But, with the news on the internet being that he is being charged with attempted manslaughter, and has MANY cases he is being charged with, his future as a kickboxer looks to be over.
While he probably won’t get the ten years that is being discussed, I truly believe that his career as we’ve known it is truly a dream of the past.
Hello, I'm the Boxing Blogger. I started watching boxing as a little girl, because of my father telling me stories about Muhammad Ali, who was his hero. I have watched the sweet science ever since, but recently decided to write about it. Thanks for visiting! Please COMMENT, I love hearing from readers!
