  • Peter Aerts Stops Jamal Ben Saddik, Becomes Kickboxing’s Version of Bernard Hopkins

    Posted on by admin Comment

Recently, my kickboxing predictions have been way off. Gokhan Saki beat Daniel Ghita, completely opposite of what I thought would happen. Then veteran Peter Aerts pulls off what I consider the shocking upset by stopping young Jamal Ben Saddik by TKO in the third round.

Peter Aerts, at forty-two years old, has become boxing’s version of Bernard Hopkins. He is a wily veteran who stays in the game, and despite being counted out many times, always makes that surprise come back. Aerts seems like a man who truly loves to fight!

  • Gokhan Saki Shocks The World, Knocks Out Daniel Ghita In Cinematic Fashion

I’ve discovered the kickboxing world is a little like Project Runway, “One day you’re in, the next day you’re out.” Less than two years ago, Badr Hari dominated Gokhan Saki, and seemed on the precipice of pugilistic greatness. Gokhan Saki, on the other hand, had never looked worst, and Daniel Ghita seemed to be unstoppable.

Fast-forward to last week, Gokhan Saki knocked out Daniel Ghita in cinematic fashion. I had fully expected Ghita to knock out and control the match against Saki. While it could be argued that Saki got a gift knockdown, but the ultimate outcome is that Saki achieved a huge win, and will next face Semmy Schilt.

I will, once again, predict against Saki, in that Schilt will win. But if somehow Gokhan Saki does pull off the victory, he’ll lay claim to being the best kickboxer in the world. Crazy.

  • Peter Aerts Isn’t Retired, Set To Face Jamal Ben Saddik

I was genuinely surprised when I heard that Peter Aerts would face Jamal Ben Saddik at Glory 4. First of all, I thought that Peter Aerts was retired, but he seems to keep getting back in the ring for who knows what reason. Second of all, if he is fighting again, I don’t know why it would be against the “new” Badr Hari, Jamal Saddik. Peter Aerts unceremoniously got his clock cleaned when he fought the real Badr Hari, and he’s again fighting a much younger, bigger man. The only advantage Aerts has at this time is his legend status, and his wins against the seven-foot Semmy Schilt.

So Aerts has had success in fighting significantly larger men, and no one would ever doubt Aerts’ heart and warrior spirit at any age. Unfortunately, I foresee this fight ending badly for Aerts. Jamal Saddik will come out of the gates guns blazing, like he did against Errol Zimmerman, and he will overwhelm Aerts. The fight will eventually be stopped and Jamal Saddik will emerge the winner via TKO.

  • Tyrone Spong Vanquishes Remy Bonjasky From The Kickboxing Elite

With much joy, I report that Tyrone Spong KO’ed Remy Bonjasky in the second round with a right hook. I’ve long found Remy Bonjasky a boring *spoiler* type of fighter, one who isn’t exciting, but constantly wins with his boring, yawn-inducing style. While I admit he’s a good fighter, I’m happy to see that he no longer seems capable of winning big fights. After losing to fledgling Jamal Ben Saddik, Bonjasky has been knocked out by Tyrone Spong.

Hopefully, this is the end of Bonjasky’s career and he retires for good this time!

  • Mirko CroCop Got A Gift Against Jarrell Miller

When I first heard about this match-up, I thought that Mirko might be in some trouble. Having already washed out from MMA, Mirko keeps coming up against young, hungry fighters like Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller.

But then when I realized that the fight would be in Croatia, I figured that Miller would need a KO to win the fight, because he wasn’t going to win by decision.

Unfortunately I was right. It’s very messed up as a fan to watch corrupt decisions like these. But Miller still has a lot of potential, and has a great career ahead of him if he doesn’t let this setback deter him.

  • March K1 World Grand Prix, The Return of Badr Hari

Well it looks like Badr Hari is making a return to the ring much sooner than anyone expected. He has recently done media for his upcoming fight this Friday against Zabit Samedov, where he confirms that he is legally allowed to fight in Croatia. Badr admits that he is not in the best of shape, but believes that he is ready to return (translation: Zabit Samedov is easy prey). Video is below.

  • Badr Hari To Compete In the K-1 World Grand Prix?

In surprising (but very good) news for Badr Hari fans, K1 has announced that Badr Hari will replace Ben Edwards in the K1 World Grand Prix. I didn’t realize that this was a legal possibility for Badr Hari, since he hasn’t even gone to trial yet.

With the K1 World Grand Prix being the weakest its been in a very long time, maybe ever, Badr Hari has a very good chance of finally realizing his dream of being a K1 champion. Now that Daniel Ghita has mysteriously decided to compete in GLORY instead of K1, Hesdy Gerges seems the only real competition for Hari left.

  • Vitali Klitschko Gets Knocked Out

Well this is truly an unusual sight: Vitali Klitschko getting knocked out in his kickboxing days against Pele Reid. I have always thought that either Carl Froch or Vitali (definitely not Wladimir) had the two best chins in boxing.

I guess it shows that anyone can be knocked out!

  • Badr Hari Released From Prison, Training With Gokhan Saki

Badr Hari has started out 2013 on a positive note. Skinny and shamed, Badr Hari has resumed training with Gokhan Saki at Mike’s Gym. Reportedly, he has also contacted Glory about fighting there, and I’m sure they’re very happy to hear from him.

Unfortunately, Badr Hari is a VERY shady character to me, and I don’t expect him to stay out of trouble. From having Chantal Oornink – a former drug moll – as a long-time girlfriend, plus his longtime gang associations, Badr Hari is bad news.

Hello, I'm the Boxing Blogger. I started watching boxing as a little girl, because of my father telling me stories about Muhammad Ali, who was his hero. I have watched the sweet science ever since, but recently decided to write about it. Thanks for visiting! Please COMMENT, I love hearing from readers!
